Youth Empowerment

We are a city that cherishes community, which is why many residents are young families. We should not only provide quality education, but we should create programs that will encourage our youth to grow their skills in a safe supportive environment. This ensures long-term success in college and in the workforce. I will commit to challenging the entire city to do more for our youth.

Public Safety

As we move to the future, public safety remains the top priority and comes in different forms. Our city contracts with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department for local policing. Our deputies are well trained, respectable, and are a vital part of our community. I will continue to foster relationships we have with the Sheriff’s Department to keep our residents informed and safe.

Small Business Advocacy

Our Town Center is our premier location for business and liveliness. There are over twenty different owners of the Town Center and I believe we must continue to improve our relationships with each of them. It is important to have dialogue about attracting businesses that meet the needs of residents first. Understanding the needs of the community will ensure our Town Center provides the City with long-term growth instead of short-term gain and it gives local independent owners a seat at the table as it concerns residential needs.

Environment

Aliso Viejo has a master association known as the Aliso Viejo Community Association (AVCA) that is tasked with ensuring our city remains beautiful. They also host our big community events such as the July 4th Celebration & Fireworks. Our relationship with AVCA is of upmost importance and we should work to foster even better relationships with the association to ensure the vitality of our city. City Council also has a responsibility to continuously improve our environmental strategies and work to make our future more sustainable. I will commit to working with AVCA and others to ensure we have a strategy in place going forward.

City Council Accountability

The Aliso Viejo City Council is the legislative body we depend on to ensure our city is fiscally sound and safe. As elected officials, city council members must adhere to ethics laws and be accountable to the residents they serve. We can hold City Council members accountable starting at the campaign level, by introducing campaign contribution limits and when in office, term limits should be applied. We are a young city and we must take strides to ensure that our Council is always in touch with the needs of our residents.
